WD-40
In 1953, Rocket Chemical Company and its staff of three set out to create a line of rust-prevention solvents and degreasers for use in the aerospace industry. Working in a small lab in San Diego, California, it took them 40 attempts to get the water displacing formula worked out. The original secret formula for WD-40 -which stands for Water Displacement perfected on the 40th try— is still in use today widely.
A few years following WD-40 Multi-Use Product's first industrial use, Rocket Chemical Company founder Norm Larsen experimented with putting WD-40 Multi-Use Product into aerosol cans; reasoning that consumers might find a use for the product at home as some of the company employees have already had. The new spray type packings made its first appearance on store shelves in San Diego in 1958.
Over the years, WD40 became one of the most well-known lubricants all over the world thanks to the developments in the product line and handy packing designs.
Product Features:
The uses include everything from silencing squeaky hinges and removing road tar from automobiles to protecting tools from rust and removing adhesive labels.
- Lubricates: Creates a barrier between moving parts and frees sticky mechanisms. Ultra-high surface attraction assures the lubricating ingredients in WD-40 will be widely dispersed and tenaciously held to all moving parts. WD-40 contains no silicone or other additives that attract dust and dirt causing a build of gummy, greasy residue.
- Penetrates: A fast-acting penetrant with capillary action to penetrate deep into crevices, threads and seams to break the rust bonds that hold stuck parts together. Loosens rust-to-metal bonds and frees stuck, frozen, or rusted metal parts. The lubricating properties of WD-40 then keep these parts working freely.
- Keeps Moisture Away: Drives out moisture to extend the life of metal equipments. WD-40 is formulated for ultra-high surface attraction to metal. It completely covers surfaces, including microscopic irregularities, even in the presence of moisture.
- Cleaner & Degreaser: It quickly breaks through tough grease & grime. Addition of corrosion inhibitors helps protect against flash rust. Great for cleaning greasy automotive parts, tools, shop floors, industrial machinery, commercial appliances and equipments.
- Contact Cleaner: Smart Straw technology blasts away oil, dirt, flux reside and condensation from sensitive electronics and electrical equipment with pinpoint precision. It dries quickly, leaving no residue and removes over 95% of common surface contaminants, making it the best at cleaning electrical contacts and for optimal performance of equipments.
Ingredients: While the ingredients in WD-40® Multi-Use Product are secret, we can tell you what it does NOT contain: Silicone, kerosene, water, graphite, or chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs).
